Introducing Friends of the ISO: A New Chapter in a Proud Legacy
As we honor the rich history and enduring dedication of the Irving Symphony League, we are thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter—Friends of the ISO. This revitalized identity reflects our renewed commitment to supporting the arts and expanding our reach throughout the Metroplex.
Founded in 1970, the Irving Symphony League—now Friends of the ISO—was established to provide vital support services to the Irving Symphony Orchestra. Over the decades, it has played a key role in community engagement, most notably through the creation of the Symphony Belles, which later evolved into today’s Ovation Program. This program continues to thrive, offering volunteer opportunities to high school students and community members who assist with hosting duties and ticket handling at concerts.
Friends of the ISO will continue to champion our core mission: enriching the community through music and service. Signature programs like scholarships, Concerts4Kids, Healing Notes, and the Ovation Program will remain at the heart of our efforts, while we further amplify our support of the Irving Symphony Orchestra and its incredible performances.
Through exclusive events and behind-the-scenes opportunities, Friends will connect music lovers with Maestro Héctor Guzmán, orchestra members, and one another—celebrating the joy and power of live symphonic music. Your involvement is essential to making this vision a reality. We invite you to join us in this exciting new era!

2026 Annual Scholarship Recipient for the Performing Arts
USMAN ALI – Graduate of MacArthur High School
The Irving Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce Usman Ali as the recipient of this year’s Friends of the ISO Scholarship Award, recognizing his extraordinary musical achievement, dedication, and service to the community.
An accomplished young tenor from Irving, Texas, Usman’s musical journey has taken him from middle school honor choirs to some of the most prestigious stages and ensembles in Texas and beyond. During his high school career at MacArthur High School, he earned a place in the TMEA All-State Choir multiple times, achieved top chair rankings in district, region, and area auditions, and was selected for the American Choral Directors Association 11–12 National Honor Choir — a distinction reserved for the nation’s most elite young singers.
Beyond competition and recognition, Usman has pursued formal vocal training through private voice lessons and opera coursework at Dallas College Brookhaven and North Lake campuses, further strengthening his artistry and commitment to excellence.
Usman has also built an impressive record of performance and service to the Irving community. He has performed the National Anthem at numerous high-profile events, including Irving ISD graduations, athletic banquets, and State of the District celebrations, sharing his talent with audiences across the region.
Friends of the ISO congratulates Usman Ali on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to seeing his continued success as he pursues his passion for music and performance.
